I have been going to the same campsite in North Wales with my family since I was 10 weeks old. My Grandparents and their friends first went there in 1972 and it has been an annual holiday pretty much every year for a lot of us ever since.
I started properly drawing there around five years ago and I have drawn the same spot on the headland at Porthor (Whistling Sands) every year.
It’s nice having the same place to go back to and draw. I like how much they change year on year.
I often come back from the trip and carry on working from the drawings in the studio too -
Which I then develop into larger paintings -
And here is a panini with a side of beans from the cafe on the beach.
Didn’t come here to cry about rocks but I guess here we are.
Love love love this news letter and porthor
